CitriMax (Brand of Hydroxycitric Acid) - For Weight Reduction For centuries the Garcinia Cambogia tree of South Asia has yielded up its fruit as a dietary aid in the challenge of weight reduction. The small pumpkin shaped fruit is a rich source of hydroxycitric acid, the active agent that aids in weight loss. Appropriate weight management is important to safeguarding health and form. As a bonus, hydroxycitric acid has a long history of safe human consumption as a food condiment in India and South Asia.
HOW DOES HYDROXYCITRIC ACID WORK? Normally, the body converts the carbohydrates from meals and snacks that cannot be used immediately for energy into glycogen. Glycogen is the storage form of carbohydrates, deposited in muscles and the liver. When the glycogen stores are reasonably full, additional carbohydrates are then converted into body fat. Hydroxycitric acid blocks up to 70% of the conversion of carbohydrates into fat, thus helping to prevent added fat storage on the body. Thus, carbohydrates are forced to be accommodated as more glycogen in the liver. This added glycogen load in the liver stimulates a longer lasting neuro-signal from the liver to the brain, of satisfaction, thus helping to suppress appetite longer. Using 1.5 to 3 grams per day, 30 to 60 minutes before meals over time will assist in weight reduction. Some researchers think that hydroxycitric acid facilitates the burning of already stored body fat. When the body is required to make fat, it tends to reduce its ability to burn stored fat. By blocking the production of new fat from carbohydrates, the body will be facilitated in burning more of its stored fat. Mobilizing stored fat for burning, requires us to be sure that adequate water is taken in daily - at least 8 glasses.
ARE THERE OTHER FACTORS? Hydroxycitric acid is an effective aid to weight loss but not a substitute for exercise and meaningful calorie reductions, especially from saturated fat. Targeting rapid weight loss is bad advice as the body rebels by holding back. Be patient and steady. Fat loss is also aided by daily chromium supplementation and 1 to 2 tablespoons of flax seed oil daily. Emphasize fruits and vegetables and reduce all meats until you achieve your target weight. Discuss exercise with your doctor if you are over 35 years old.
HOW DOES CHROMIUM FIT IN? Chromium is an essential mineral nutrient. It is thought that most North Americans have depleted chromium stores in their bodies and that the average North American diet fails to provide sufficient chromium for daily needs. Adequate levels of chromium facilitate the release of stored fat for fuel in the muscles. If it is your goal to reduce body fat, then chromium should be considered an integral part of your program. Other benefits to your body are also associated with chromium supplementation. Two weight reduction benefits are: better blood sugar control, which helps to better manage hunger; and secondly, some degree of muscle mass development, providing more fat burning capacity.
HOW MUCH CHROMIUM IS RECOMMENDED? Normal daily supplementation of chromium is 200 micrograms. However, 600 micrograms are recommended for a weight reduction program. As you come closer to your ideal weight, 200 micrograms per day is appropriate. Chromium should be taken in 200 micrograms per meal for optimal absorption. Chromium is a very safe mineral with no adverse effects if taken in the recommended dosage range. It does not show a history of problems in the scientific literature.
HOW DOES FLAXSEED OIL FIT IN? Flaxseed oil supplies linolenic acid, a fatty acid belonging to the omega-3 family of fatty acids. A general deficiency of omega-3 fats in North America is thought to be an important contributing factor to obesity and the mid-life difficulty in shedding pounds. Even though flaxseed oil is a fat, it is a beneficial vegetable fat, providing other health relate features as well. For a fat reduction program one to two tablespoons or 14-28 grams of flaxseed oil is suggested per day. Flaxseed oil can be mixed with extra virgin olive oil and the blend used for making salad dressings with vinegar and spices. Do not saut with flaxseed oil since it is quickly damaged by such heat. For bodyfat reduction, try to avoid butter, margarine and grocery store vegetable oils, except extra virgin olive oil.
ARE THERE ANY CAUTIONS? Those who are pregnant should not take hydroxycitric acid since it can also block production of cholesterol. Cholesterol is necessary for production of progesterone, the hormone that enables a pregnancy to go to full term. For diabetics using injectable insulin or oral insulin stimulators, long term use of chromium can lead to more efficient blood sugar lowering, and a possible need to lower medication dosage to avoid episodes of hypoglycemia. Please discuss with your doctor. Chromium is very safe; just use with understanding. Flaxseed oil is a natural blood thinner. If you are using ASA frequently or a pharmaceutical blood thinner, you should discuss your interest in flaxseed oil with your physician before using it.
