WAX Carving Course

 

Basic Course (100 hrs.)

What you'll learn:  Basic skills of how to translate and make design idea's into a wax model.  Using build-up, carving, filling techniques, you will work on following projects both in contemporary designs and organic forms.  You may use your own design for some projects.

Project:  Wedding band, wire ring, bezel ring, initial ring, channel-set ring, pendants, pin, earrings, setting, polish, etc.

And you will work on about 6 hours of your own independent creative design.

 

 

Professional Regular Course (300 hrs.)

What you'll learn:  Advanced skills to expand your ability to create customized jewelry.  Some wax experience or basic wax course completion recommended.  You may use your own design for some project.  (Your own sketches of designs.)

Project:  Engage/Wedding ring, bezel ring, prong ring, channel-set ring, pave-set ring, bi-color ring, invisible-setting ring, cluster ring, pin, pendant, bracelet, bangle, necklace, polish, setting, etc.

And you will work on about 60 hours of your own independent creative design in the regular course.

In the short course, you will learn advanced technique by working on selected project from the project list above.

What you'll learn:  Drawing techniques to sketch and illustrate gems, metals, and jewelry piece using watercolor.  Develop your ability to get design idea from inspirational sources, translate it into paper design and complete professional watercolor renderings.  You'll also learn how to estimate your jewelry and how to clean jewelry.

Course Topics:  Sketch, imaginative creation, 2-point perspective, multiple views, color rendering of varies cut stones and pearls, elements of design (ring, chain, earrings, bracelet, bangle, necklace.)
